Hi,hope someone can assist with ongoing (operator?) errors on this.
I started to work on my wii last week and after a few attempts managed to get Homebrew installed. This was done with the assistance of bruv in law Paul but process stopped when he had to go back down south!
Searching on here has only served to scare me that I've missed something. I keep coming across alternative direction that seems to differ subtley from what I've done so far.
The problem now is that at section 5b the wii stops communication with the controller (controller turns off, when turned back on all 4 lights flash and it doesn't register with wii) so i'm not able to proceed.
[Step 5 - Install and Patch A Few More IOS
b) Load up homebrew channel once more, then load up WAD Manager. Load IOS249 -I get to here then stop!]
I suppose it's a 2 way question:
i) how can i get around this problem , or if not
ii) can i restart the whole process again with no detrimental effect (for example using http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tem-menus.html - which i found as an alternate process?)
Sorry for full history but I thought the more info the better - all constructive advice greatly appreciated
Hi m8, dont take this the wrong way but you are asking for help using another tutorial from another forum.
The only advise I can give is, use this tutorial, you have the homebrew channel installed so skip that part, download the files you need onto your SD card and take it from there.
HTH
Followed the guide and everything seems to work just fine with no errormessages. However I have not yet tried to play any "backups" because I have to buy a USB-hdd. (I have a new Wii that won't let me play dvd-copies)
I did try to enter the ULoader-menu and it works fine but when I exit out of ULoader, I get Exception (DSI), Stack Dump and Code Dump messages filling my screen. The only way to get out of this is to restart Wii pressing the powerbutton.

Have I missed something?
Never had that error m8, maybe someone else has ??, let us know how you get on when you get a hard drive.
Thanks for the tutorial Dell_XPS.
It worked wonders for me it would seem..
I have followed all of your steps & all seems ready & set to go..
Thanks again..
I will try burning dvd-r's & hope that I can play them on my Wii, however, I so have a black 4.2e which is new & I heard the only way is to load games via HDD or some sort of USB pen drive..
I don't really want to do that but if I have no other choice then that's what I got to do.. Thank you so much as every other tutorial I looked at just wasn't worth me looking at as something was always missing or felt like it had a grey area..
This was so simple to follow & everything worked 1st time for me..
I thought the same, have always run from back up discs, but since using this guide I now use a 16 gb USB pen drive which is great, multiple games in place and load much quicker than discs. I would say give it a go.

Bought a 320Gb USB-HDD today and tried loading some games with ULoader and it worked perfect.
As long as I don't exit ULoader-menu there are no problems.
By the way is there a way to return from a game directly to ULoader-menu without going back to the Wii menu first?
I?m a total newbie, haven?t even got my Wii yet.
What I wonder is if you can still play originals as easy as before moding? I have ordered a black edition, can I change
the DVD motherboard to an older i.e. D2C motherboard, softmod it and then read backup DVD?s?
