Ok, but i will have to drop all the files needed in the installation into HDD and just leave it connected to Wii all the time :P?

If you have iso loader on your wii which you should have just make sure all the iso's are on the HD verytime you plug it in.

I haven't softmoded my Wii yet, because i dont have my own SD card, so i was wondering if i could just borrow one from my friend, install all things and give back the card.

i downloaded it from a not very special place, so like i said it?s probably my copy.

the dol you?re talking about, it?s not the boot.dol that i installed before? or is it Neogamma thru wad manager? the 002 fix? duh...

that?s why it says noob next to my name.

( I know there's a few tutorials posted but i couldn't get anything to work with the 4.2E firmware). After a few hours of searching/googling I came across this well written tutorial, only thing I changed was the Neogamma Loader to play back ups with the 002 error, and if you install cIOS 15 ( see attachments below) using Uloader you will get the newest Mario game etc working, once cIOS 15 is installed, start up Uloader, select IOS 249,then load/play, (see below for instructions on how to install this) .I take no credit for any of these tutorials, I'm only pointing people in the right direction as I thought It was a pain in the (*)(*) to find out how to softmod a 4.2E Wii.This tutorial does not work for version 4 Firmware peeps, only use with 4.2E, and it aint my fault if you brick your Wii, unlikely but, always always read everything twice !!!! Anyways.............

Here goes, this should take you no more than 30mins tops, I have only done this on a 4.2E version.....

                      Download bannerbomb v2 from here,
                      bannerbomb
follow the instructions, as soon as you have the homebrew channel on your Wii your good to go......

                      Next.....
                      Visit this website,
HOWTO: Setup a System Menu 4.2 Wii for playing backups of commercial games with uLoader Ade's Softmodding Wii blog

Download the file complete4_2.zip, and follow the tutorial.

This guide does not work on older firmware !!!, and it will only work with the new black 4.2E Wii's using a Hard Drive, using DVD'rs will just give you an error I'm led to believe, if you know otherwise let me know and I'll amend this.

For people wanting to play new games like Mario follow this guide I made up last night, spent 3 hours trying different things, I dont even play the Wii,, anyway here goes......

                      1.download cIOS38_rev15-Installer.dol ( see attachment )

2.make a folder on your SD card in apps called, CIOS15, copy the cIOS38_rev15-Installer.dol into it, rename it to boot.dol, now the folder on your SD card should look like this Apps--CIOS15--boot.dol

3.Fire up the homebrew channel, locate the CIOS15 folder, install it via NETWORK not by wad or you get an error, you have to be connected to the net to download it, so make sure your online when doing this !!!

4.Once installed make sure you still have the uloader on your SD card, click on ULoader in the Wii channel, press 2 to launch from DVD,select ios 249,Pal 50 or 60 works, then load the game, should be working no problem.
If I have missed anything send me a PM, cheers.

Ok had another play about with the Wii tonight, to keep things neat and tidy and have just the one loader on the main menu I'd stick with the USB Loader, using the cIOS rev 15. Played back all the games I tried " cough cough" all originals, all I did was select ios 249, Pal 50 or 60, English language, doh!
I have a NTSC of Wii fit+, tried the above settings just got the black screen, same settings but NTSC this time and it played no problem.
Played new Mario game, all games that require 002 fix, and NTSC titles, so to save using a couple of loaders USB loader does it all, I used the DVD option (2 on the remote when you load up ULoader), I don't have a spare hard drive at present to try, but it works 100% for all games burnt to disc using DVDR's.
                      Enjoy peeps.

BACK UP YOUR NAND (OPTIONAL),(stole this from somewhere on the net....)

Making a NAND backup with Bootmii is highly recommended, it will recover your Wii from 99.9% of bricks.
Use the same SD card you used to install Bootmii and make sure there is at least 530mb free on it.
Bootmii is very fussy about what SD cards it uses, so avoid generic ones and try and use a Sandisk or similar.

                      a) Put the SD card into the Wii, if you installed Bootmii as boot2 then it will load, if it is installed as an IOS go to the Homebrew Channel, press 'home' on your wiimote and select 'Launch Bootmii'.

                      b) Use the power/reset/eject buttons to navigate the Bootmii menu and select the icon with the gears on it. If those buttons don't work then you will have to use a Gamecube controller.

                      c) Now select the icon with a green arrow pointing from the chip to the SD card and follow the on screen instructions.

                      D) In about 10 mins you will have a NAND backup, it is normal to have up to 80 bad blocks so don't worry if you get some.

                      e) Put the SD card into PC and copy the NAND backup somewhere safe, you can now delete it from your card. If you installed Bootmii as boot2 then also copy the Bootmii folder to your PC and either delete or rename it, otherwise it will load every time you switch your Wii on.

If ever you get bricked then copy the bootmii folder and NAND backup onto your card, do steps a) & b) again, using Preloader to get to HBC if necessary, then select the icon with the arrow going from the SD card to the chip. It is not recommended to restore your NAND if you have Bootmii installed as an IOS.
thanks for the guide, great help

Hi dell xps, I have a white wii with 4.2 and modchip for the last 2 years and as a lot of others want to soft mod it. Am a bit confused though, I want to soft mod it to play form dvd's if I follow this tut will I be able to do this, also at what point should I back up the nand.

                        many thanks in advance.

                        Ranger

May I also say nice to see a forum that answers very newbie questions. Other forums I have tried to get answers on expect you to know everything straight away and have no patience at all.

Hi Ranger, ok when you install bannerbomb step 1, you get the press 1 for homebrew channel etc, sais if you have paid for this etc you have been robbed or something like that, after installing the 3 dvdx, bootmii, homebrew channel go back to the main Wii menu, click on the homebrew channel, on the Wii remote press home, brings up few options, go into bootmii, this then brings up 4 boxes, use the on/off and reset on the Wii box to navigate left/right and select the option for backing up your nand, make sure you have at least 600mb space I think it is on your sd card, it takes about 10 to 15 mins to do, it backs it up then verifies it.
You can also use a gamecube controller if you have one to navigate the menu in bootmii, but most people dont have a gamecube controller so use the on/off select buttons on your Wii.
And yes you will be able to play all your DVD backup's, instead of using the Wii channel top left, you will click on the Uloader screen now, and load your game, this option also allows you to use a hard drive with iso's on it instead of burning all your games to disc, you can copy the games you have to hard drive and load them that way as well now.
Hope that makes sense, just up from night shift and not with it at all,

                                Many thanks dell_xps...

Up and running in less than 30 mins (once i had everything on my SD). Felt like the Krypton Factor initially, but looking back it was a breeze. 100% spot on!

One question, if I may... Any way to have the ULoader default to the IOS 249, PAL/NTSC, rather than having to configure all the time?
