I'm having trouble running a few games from disk and Im thinking about buying a large pen drive to see if that solves the problem, but I thought I ask you guys to see if you think buying a large pen drive will solved the problem cos I dont want to waste my money if not.

Most of my games work fine, however a few won't load for whatever reason. When I load them in uloader, this is what happens.

The title of the game shows up in the uloader menu, but when I press 'load game', that's when it all starts to go wrong.

        Sonic unleashed
Super Monkey Ball - Step & Roll
        Wont even load banner title

Mario & Sonic at Olympic Games
        Lego Indiana Jones 1

Loads banner title, then says loading for about 1 minute and then freezes on a black screen.

Ive burned all my games to TDK DVD-R using ImgBurn at 4x speed, all PAL and all my games are from sources that other people have claimed to be working fine. I'm using the latest version of uloader, because I just updated it to see if that solved the problem (think it said it was uloader 4.8)

Shall I try burning them at a different speed?

Ok thanks. I am following your instructions and I've gotten as far as this..
start nusd and file will download to pc and then packed into a wad which will be in nusd folder, there will be a folder in there with lots of files in it all you need is wad file, put wad in wad folder of sd card and install with wad manager.
I now have a folder in my NUSD folder called 0000000100000021v1040 with lots of files in (such as 00000001, 00000005, cetk, tmd.1040) but no wad file?

            I downloaded IOS 33 - v1040

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to check pack wad at the bottom!

Ok, I think I know what I'm doing but I just want to clarify with you first incase I brick my wii!

              I'm using firmware 4.2e.

I'm trying to get Sonic Unleashed to work, so I checked on the list you linked me to and found it as:
              Sonic Unleashed........................IOS33-64-v1040............System Menu 3.1

So in NUSD, I've checked Pack > Wad
              clicked Database
              selected IOS 33
and v1040 (or do I click latest version?)
              then clicked Start NUS Download

Ive then put the WAD file that I've downloaded in my WAD folder on my SD card.

Because for Sonic Unleashed, it says to use System Menu 3.1 and not 4.2, I presume that I am ignore the part of your instructions that mention using 'trucha features', right?

Then I go into wad manager and select to use "IOS 33"?

I couldnt install IOS33 - v1040, but it would let me install the latest version, so I did that.

After installing, tried loading sonic unleashed but it still can't get past the 'reading the banner..' stage in uloader.

If I have to change my discs, would I better getting the large pen drive then? I can get a 128gb one for ?20 on ebay so not too expensive.

EDIT: Just tried Lego Indiana Jones which, according to the IOS list, uses the same IOS that I just installed for sonic and now when I try and load it, it gets to the 'reading the banner..' stage and then shows a black screen with lots of white numbers on it saying 'Exception (DSI) occurred!' ?

the drive is up to you, dont sound a bad deal,as for the stack dump error these happen from time to time,if it happens again and you think the iso wad is to blame just uninstall it with wad manager.

I'd be sceptical of getting a 128GB pen from Ebay m8, majority are fake and only hold a percentage of space they claim to have, buy a stick from a known dealer, ie Ebuyer etc etc, or buy a few different DVDR's and see if any of them make a difference.
Another point, are you burning these discs via a notebook writer ?, If so try using an external writer or try burning them in a tower PC if you have one, or borrow someone else's PC to eliminate your writer.
                          HTH.

Great all seems to have gone ok. I still have some questions.

Which system hacks need to be enabled in peiiloader to protect the Wii (not just background and sound stuff)?

Should I update ULoader? The highest version I can find claimes to be 4.8b.

                            Also

                            cIOS249-v14.wad
                            cIOS250-v14.wad

                            Are now
                            cIOS249-v17.wad
                            cIOS250-v17.wad

You probably know that already but I thought I'd point it out.

                            Thanks again for the advice.
