Your supposed to backup your NAND before you install anything.

Now this NAND backup is very strange because when you install HBC you install it then you install BootMii then you Prepare the SD card with the BootMii folder then you can save you NAND through BootMii. Well if your saving the NAND your saving HBC and BootMii so it won't be the factory default will it?

Through BootMii but you MUST have the [BootMii] folder on the SD card else you won't see the BootMii icons thats what the Prepare SD card does. If the Wii gets bricked for what ever reason you need to install PriiLoader so you can put back the original NAND thats the first thing you install after HBC. You can access PriiLoader by turning on the Wii and pressing the Rest button then select BootMii.

how do you do a back up to the SD card , can you do this even if you have fully installed the bits as per the instructions

if you have deleted your bootmii folder dont worry iv'e uploaded a copy here Digital Kaos - Downloads - bootmii folder-pal put it on your sd card and follow the instructions for backing up your nand, it wont corrupt any info already on the sd card.
bricking a wii is very rare and you should not ever need your nand backup even if you lose your backup there is still no need to panic there are a few programs out there that will allow you to use someone elses nand and keys if you know someone with the same system menu as yours.

You could just rename as it says in the instruction to rename to bootmii to bootmii-old
            it then works fine

Okay I got all the way up to installing the bootmii, It says "This installer could not continue. there is no known vulnerable ios installed on this WII. please note that we will not use a fakesigned ios due to sercurity resons. look for updated version at (gives their site)"

I went there, and tried to use theres and i got all confused. what did i do wrong? i followed every step and was fine till the installing wads step.

Note: Okay i figured it out. it is me being sleepy. I didnt push the home button when i entered the channel. The wads are now installing nicely. ill leave an update when im finished. im hoping this works!

Okay i am getting a 1167 error when loading a backed up cd. I did try a reg cd under the neogamma and it loaded fine.

Edited: Well I just found out the Black WII's can NOT load dvds in this manor. I will have to go to a USB loading device.

Yes but you aren't telling us the full story are you?

NeoGamma will give you a DVD read error 1167 I know because that happens to me, original DVD's play ok. I put mine down to having a later DVD drive that won't read burnt DVDs.

You've also explained how to get around this just use a external hard drive.

Its very effective if its done properly but it depends on what you want to do with your Wii?

If you want to play downloaded games of an external hard drive its the best thing going using a USB Loader. You say you have a new Wii so you won't be able the burn these games to a DVD and play them as Nintendo have fitted different DVD players for some time to prevent this.

The biggest problem your going to have is getting one of the original games needed to softmod so search eBay.

took a while but it worked !!

okay so been at this for the past few hours and finally have it finished, items that caught me out were getting the WADS to install, i tried doing all 19 at once and the wii just seemed to freeze, so i would reboot again and go back into WAD manager to find that some appeared to have been installed (no green icon beside them) tried to install the remainder and once more the wii seemed to freeze, left it alone for an hour, rebooted the wii and went back in to wad manager to find no green + beside the names. In the process of backing up the disc using GX loader.
Thanks a mill for the write up.

Which WAD manager did you use?

                          I've always use Multi-Mod Manager 13.4

I'm bought myself a wii few weeks ago, and i'm intending to hack it. How safe is this? Has anyone bricked his wii? Is there some help if this happens?
