been reading about the vu duo for few weeks now, images etc, seems VIX is most popular

    Thanks
think some albanian/latvian was knocking genuine out for ?290 , apparently really good support from him too , sorry cant remember were i read it ,
if the clone is priced as garry says ?200 then it aint worth the hassle imo, i was hoping they would market it round the 150-160 mark same as the 800SE clone , ?160 must be achievable given the quality/price of the other clones knocking about specially if it dont have a sim and dedicated patching team

As said hard to tell how images will run never know they may even run on the original images. If that is the case then how long will that last before the image teams start putting timebombs in there images to brick the clones?

yup both teams appear to be from China. Only Ferarri currently has DM500HD and DM8000HD clones, they are also working on VU clones.
They always seem to be behind in terms of images, driver support, patched SSL etc...even hardware. You can see from Ferarri Dm800HD clones,...no heatsinks or fans, reports of over heating, lower rev tuners etc.

No speculation has it that ferrari sim are behind the Duo clone due to a mention on there forum a good while back.

Recent news is that the Duo clone will not have any sim at all like the original duo it also has no sim.

Time will tell but from all i have heard and all the hunting I have done on this I think it will be sim free as clone manufacturers have told me so.

Hi, just ordered from W.O.S, been dispatched so should be having a play tomorrow,

clones are ok, the dm800pro been great for the price cant complain had running for year, also the dm800se clone, gave me no issues, worked perfect, and very fast, when you compare to original prices cant ask for more really. so cant really right off clones

I am not righting off clones every DM receiver I own is a clone and I praise them highly. With the Dream clones you are saving more than half the price. When the Vu Duo clone comes out its only going to be ?100 cheaper from China (so even less of a saving if bought from the UK) So look at it this way lets say I order a Duo clone from China and somethings wrong with it, I then have to fork out money to send it back for a replacement.

But not even that I dont see the point in buying it at ?100 a saving over the original if I get one it will be a original.

Still dont think it is out mate

The chinese tend to produce receivers at a considerably low cost and sell them for tripple that. I wonder if the chinese clone makers even review the linux receiver market or are they being plain greedy.

I wouldnt say they are greedy look at the build quality of the SE clone if you buy from the right Chinese Clone Manufacture and its ?150 including shipping. The original you are talking ?450. They could charge more than ?150 and they would still sell.

no and you wont know untill Vu want you to know as all their beta testers are under a very tight legally binding NDA = non disclosure agreement.

should not be too long a wait though is all i can say.

ok World-of-satellite are taking pre-orders for the ultimo expected in early January, price is ?579. yes this is expensive and i certainly would not pay for one but this box is intended for the same market as the DM8000 and it's just ?50 more than the DM7020HD and the DM8000 still retails at nearly a grand.

Yeah seen it somewere else with expected stock in January says it comes with 2 tuners as standard and a slot for the third.

As you say ?579 is a bit of money but its better than forking out close to a grand for a 8000HD.

As much as I want one dont think it would be worth the Mrs not talking to me for sometime . So get the Duo (original) and then keep a eye on the Ultimo and maybe get it later on in the year next year
