Maybe I'm being a bit simplistic here, but if the new system is pairing cards to the ReceiverID of the official STB, could there not be any way to spoof that same Receiver ID into a 3rd party box?

I'd assume that whatever code the card is pairing to is encrypted and will require dumping and decrypting which will take time if even possible, I'm no expert though so I'm probably wrong.

people are probably looking into it but I wouldn't hold your breath, best bet is to wait and see what happens after everyone has been hit and more people have had a while to experiment.

          Hi All,

Been trying to work out the answer to this Q from the thread - apologies if I missed it.

My card is paired with an original Thomson box and has been for years. Card has not been in the box for over 12 months. Personal use only. My understanding is that the Thomson box does not support the new pairing so am I safe? I don't know if anyone with an old Thomy can comment. I assume HD would not be turned off for these boxes without very explicit warning. I received the free box upgrade letter but it was not definitive re loss of services.

          Thanks

Their aim is to replace this model as soon as possible and once majority of them have been replaced they may stop these boxes from accessing HD content.

Keep your card paired to it as long as you can, I'd say at some point sly will make up a bs reason why your box is no longer compatible with their service and force you to either take a new box or they'll cancel your services but technically theres no reason why it wont continue to work.

Maybe if the numbers are small enough they'll just turn a blind eye to the Thomsons, noone can really be sure!

I have a card paired with an 890 HD box but don't have sports or films and do not subscribe to HD. Will it still get updates if in another box using Oscam for the SD channels. This way at least I keep something going.

no one knows, they may leave them alone or they may pair the entire offer apart from FTV cards but i doubt it.... just go with what you can while you can or get a european card to play with, regards mdt

Got the card paired and it cleared all channels in the Pace box but when I put it back in the server box the Sly Sports & Movies still do not work but all other channels clear.

So pairing an HD card to an SD box will not bring back the premium channels despite it clearing in the SD receiver.
