OpenBox S10. Rebooted it one day, it gave the display "this box is a clone" then died. No lights, no display, nothing.
I tried the Upgrade_PVR800_HD_tool software, but am having the following issues:
When I run Eromupgrade, the RS232 port info screen comes up, com1;parity even; 115200 bitrate. It shows "operating mode: Upgrade". If I use this mode, entering the .abs file, I get error box "Wrong File". If I switch to "data dump" the include bootloader box is greyed out. With the latter setting I get only the sync stb's - reset target message. Have tried many, many different timing sequences. I'm using the RS323 cable, 3 wire and wired as mentioned in previous post. Can anyone make suggestions?Comment

Thank you for reading this.
I do have a problem with my openbox x3 completely different from others.
My device went in constant loop mode after I put some new newcamd lines via update tool.
Before, when it went in this mode, I tried several firmwares from the website and I un-bricked the device.
However, this time I cannot do that.
I can connect it to computer, I can flash the device without interruption, everything goes OK, but after flashing, constant loop goes on; nothing changes.
I tried almost all of the firmwares, I dont have a problem with connections..
Can you help me?Comment

looks like the new newcamd file has corrupted the box. try a new newcamd file not a copy and paste to the old file. an error(pressing ctrl rather than shift) was createdThank you for reading this.

I guess you didnt get the part I BRICKED it..
What I mean is that whatever ROM I flashed, it never stops restarting. So I cannot change any files in it..Last edited by halkliozan; 24 November, 2012, 19:21.Comment

I flashed my poor X3 almost 50 times again and again. Just once, it stopped at 'SEARH' once with an F4 firmware, and said "OEM ID MISMATCH". It didnt go on, of course.
I couldnt stop bootloop whatever I have done. Please help..Comment

skybox dead
I have the same problem.. I'd to dl this software, but this system doesnt let me download it.
How can i get download it ??
Ok I was having the same problem and just fixed it finally after a lot of trial and error heres what I did -
downloaded http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...de_8mflash.rar
then downloaded some older firmware -
SKYBOX_3601hd_CMT_120820071a.abs
(if you search google you will find it)
Then I plugged the box in and attached the null modem cable,
opened up the erom upgrade folder and ran CONFIG.BAT
then ran EROMUPGRADE
Selected the firmware I downloded
Ticked Include Bootloader
Clicked next
when it says-
synchonizing stb
Reset target
I unplug and replug the power cable out of the back of the box quite fast it will then let you carry on and recover the box
once recovered you can update to a later firware via usb or the X3 Lan tool.
hope this works for you as I was pulling my Hair out yesterdayComment
