The diode goes in series with the centre conductor. The end with the band around it goes to the LNB end.

The outer screen also needs to be reconnected, ensuring that it doesn't short out to the diode or capacitor leads.

I suppose the neatest way to do it is to mount a couple of F type sockets on a small metal box, with the components mounted inside.

EDIT...the capacitor shown in my original diagram is not required. I initially thought that the 22kHz tone was sent as a seperate signal, but it's the voltage supply to the LNB thats varied by 22kHz, so no capacitor needed.

A new diagram has been attached.

sounds like a lack of a grounding block to me.
all cables coming into the house should have a grounding block to earth ground.

Not needed on a single dwelling if using in Communal sytem then it should be grounded, all Consumer electrical Gadgets bought in the UK should be Class2 and so its not needed.

for lightning protection, dating back to the old antenna on roof days.
Actually, the dish and lnb should be grounded since the lnb is mounted to the dish with a plastic bracket.
Notice people with problems the receivers are always in different rooms.

There is no need to Ground anything as all UK/EU class electrical items should be Class 2 which do not require an earth point if they did do you not think that $ly and the health and safety body would insist on every installation being earthed.

A communal system needs a ground as it is going into different place's that dont share the same main/spur so to speak.

The reason why these Sky/Openbox are failing to work correctly is because they are cheap chinese crap end of story

Hi I'm new here and a complete beginner when it comes to all this talk. But basically I have a f5 box with ??? channels. I have a sky hd box in my sitting room and the f5 when plugged in there works.

But in my room where I originally had a skybox with fta channels on it the f5 will only work if the skybox Is plugged out downstairs.

Basically when two boxes are on I get a no signal sign on my f5 box upstairs. Anyone any info atal?

It's shown in my diagram above, and more info is in the thread that DOUGALMCD linked to in his first post.

Is your feed from your dish by any chance being split with a splitter or do you have multiple cable feeds direct to a multi lnb on the dish.
