Sly leaving BT Sports HD out of its new encryption roll-out shows its utter disregard for BT as a competitor.

Well it's good news for people using Skyboxes.

Maybe BT are buying the encryption direct from NDS rather than from Sky, they do handle their own subscriber management

I thought it would really annoy me only having SD etc, but it hasnt, sd is fine if you shrink the screen size somewhat, infact the quality of picture is pretty good on a small screen, I prefer to use my computer and just stream the box from the living room to the computer and then it is very simple to make the size of picture any size you want Plus I always know that if the worst comes to worse then I can simply stick a motorised dish up etc, happy days

A lot of users especially with HD receivers will see a marginal benefit if you use the Scart (RGB) output on your box instead of the HDMI and change settings to 576i output.

As we all know the HDMI output will always try and upscale the picture to your current HDMI settings.

Certainly worth a try for some of you and see if the SD picture improves

My SD is disastrous on my 32" Bush TV but if I do use scart I'll lose the BBC HD channels which isn't worth it?

Also my box setting is still 1080i 50hz

and thanks to karakoram for the spot on TCM HD, so the remaining HD channels are

                Film 4 HD
                Sly 3D
                BT Sport 1 HD
                BT Sport 2 HD
                ESPN HD
                Sly News HD
                RTE Two HD
So as pointed out its a matter of what channels are left. And then its a matter of the best settings on a flat screen TV to show your SD up better. So thanks to digicon for that and if any folks have better suggestions feel free to suggest

could you not do a mixture of both leave the HDMI in for the remaining HD channels and then switch to scart when watching SD, Not ideal i know but could be worth a go

You don't need to use scart as the RGB signal travels through the hdmi
