Dreambox streaming to internet,it was never easy like this

Finally got it working

Altough I am using a db500 gemini and the restream is shocking.

Can someone tell me why the stream is good when viewing direct from the DB and it is rubbish when I start the restream?

Also if anyone has got the streaming with Orb working could you let me know because I keep getting a message saying my server doesnt have the codec required(it has every codec you can imagine)

The restreaming depends on streami structure coming from dreambox which dreambox image dependent
for displaying on local computer all images are equel in good image quality but when you start transcoding ,compression and conversion of the dreambox stream to restream it to internet the difference appear in quality,there is techincal explanation for that but difficult to mention it here
However i found restreaming from pli-jade and sifteam is the best while worst from gemini and nemesis

many thanks for this brilliant program,it didnt work straight away,it took me nearly a whole day to get it to work,i was about to give up,but then finally success.

its the first program ive ever managed to get to do this,VLC sort of worked sometimes,but not often and it was a pain to setup just before my mates wanted to watch the saturday afternoon english footie.

so all in all its great and again many thanks.

now to a big bug i have found.

we english are an ignorant people and very few of us bother to learn another language,prefering instead to let others learn ours.
so we always need to watch things in the english language.

this is usually the second choice language on the dreambox,but we always set it as the first.

your program,when the stream is started seems to always select the default language,be it spanish,french or whatever.all of these channels carry a second english audio stream,but there is no option to select it in your program.
how can i also stream the english audio to my friends?

Regarding streaming to mobile,the above pictures are from my mobile showing dreambox channels
I need just to add small thing to the program subject of this post to stream in form of http protocol where mobiles can receive
the second thing we need is coreplayer to be installed in mobile
just to take the internet address from the program and add it to mobile coreplayer
Tomorrow i will post detail for the procedure,it is easy and direct

I have tested it on nokia 95,nokia81 but should be no problems with iphone and others

To make the program streams to mobile just extract the attached file to program folder and run it
from settings just select receiver type "mobile1" and start streaming
In the coreplayer or vlc in mobile enter stream internet address and start playing
i do not advice to use real player mostly will not work

install coreplayer to mobile by pc suite

It seems that I was one of the lucky ones who managed to get it running without too much problem, but that was probably more luck than anything else !
As has been mentioned above by Ian1095 it would be good if we could choose which audio stream we wanted to use and would it be at all possible to stream from the 'media' folder of the dreambox (hdd, usb device) to save transfering files back to the Pc's 'media' folder ?

My object in first release of the program to make it very simple as much as possible and although of that few acheive good streaming.
Really the problem is not in the program itself and always in ability in dns address creation and port forwarding apart from that streaming from program is direct and easy
Regrading streaming from dreambox media folder directly,you give good idea to include in next version or update in addition to streaming language priority bug

as previously said many thanks for a great app. Your kind asistance as helped many.

But for me I'm still struggling to get this to work fully, my dyndns account is active and working as I can access dream web control and also ping it.

I have set it up so that I can see the channel and start to stream it, some channels are better than others (Living TV dtreams really well for me), not so good on the Sly sports ones. Anyway when I click on preview both internet and locally I get the media player screen appear and say connecting then nothing, no error messages etc, So I press play again and same thing happens.


I have checked I have set up the port forwarding correctly for 1234 & 5678 to my local static IP 192.168.1.XXX

Also why do some channels stream much better than others?

Please can you offer any advise I really want to make this work.
