Hi Mfaraj57,

as previously said many thanks for a great app. Your kind asistance as helped many.

But for me I'm still struggling to get this to work fully, my dyndns account is active and working as I can access dream web control and also ping it.

I have set it up so that I can see the channel and start to stream it, some channels are better than others (Living TV dtreams really well for me), not so good on the Sly sports ones. Anyway when I click on preview both internet and locally I get the media player screen appear and say connecting then nothing, no error messages etc, So I press play again and same thing happens.


I have checked I have set up the port forwarding correctly for 1234 & 5678 to my local static IP 192.168.1.XXX

Also why do some channels stream much better than others?

Please can you offer any advise I really want to make this work.

By displaying the channel in restreaming window the role of the program ends and if the ports are opened and forwarded properly and dns address created and updated streaming shoud work
Lower preview button to examine port forwarding and upper to examine port and dns address
The problem with you i think in port forwarding
what to do
1- please check again port 1234 is opened and forwarded to "computer ip" by this tool

Best tool to check port is opened or not


2- be sure that your vlc player is .99 version
3- Check if firewall is blocking port 1234
4- 1234 port in some Europian blocked by internet service providers

other issue regarding different streaming quality from different channels this property of enigma1 dreamboxes and not present in enigma2 dreamboxes and related to enigma1 structure

I have checked both ports 1234 & 5678 and both are open according to the program you suggested.

My yndns account is updated but the IP is my local PC IP number but the one on the internet (example 86.13.36.217), is this correct. Afterall it says it is updated in my router and I can see the Dreambox web control interface.

The only other issue I can think of is VLC 0.99, I have the latest 1.01.

But I heard on another forum that it was also working with 1.01

Do you think it could be this?

The problem is vlc 1.0.1 ,streaming is not working with version 1.0.1 or 1.0.0
install .99 and the program should work

i would like to start again with your program,but i cannot find where the dreambox settings are stored on my pc to delete them.

everytime i uninstall the program and then reinstall it again my original settings are remembered,no matter how many registry cleaner programs that i run will delete them.

so in short,could you please tell me which directory these settings are saved?

What I did notice is with VLC0.99 installed the streaming quality was very poor, kept breaking up and stoping all the time even on local network, where as the VLC1.01 played flawless with no break ups.

program settings are not erased by uninstall
you should delete them manually from registery in path
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\dbstreamer5

first do not give up because you will succeed in do streaming as many others did
second vlc 1.0.1 is not better in streaming than vlc .99 it does not do streaming at all what you see in retreaming window is vlc 1.0.1 playing dreambox channel without compression or conversion(transcoding) so this will not be streamed outside
what you see with vlc .99 in restreaming winodow is the video after transcoding so the quality is poor
but this with poor quality if port forwared you can see it by lower preview button at least
to improve picture quality
select high upload speed profile from settings
use pli-jade image on dreambox or at least sifteam image
if do not mind send to me your dns address and i will examine things from my side to see what,s the problem

i found there to be an issue with the latest version that includes the added option to stream to a mobile.
as when the computer option is selected the restream breaks up constantly.for now ive gone back to the older version as this cures it.i have not tried streaming to a mobile with the new version to test if the same occurs with that.

so try reverting back to the older version as i have to see if this cures the problem for you.ian.

ps i do so hope the ability to select the desired audio stream is implemented soon,as this issue is basically preventing me from streaming channels to my friends,as they are not interested unless they can view in english.
with VLC the desired audio track can be selected,so it must be also possible with this excellent program too.

I will not give up on this and yes I tend to agree with you Ian when you say the older version of this excellent program seems to stream better.

When I tired VLC0.99, it was with the new version of the app, but then I uninstalled that and reinstalled the older version with VLC1.01.

Also Mfaraj57 I see what your saying that VLC1.01 was not restreaming, as the picture quality was that of the local stream.

Mfaraj57, I have sent you a PM with my DYNdns address to look at.

Streaming to locally within lan depends on ports opened or not and does not need dns address
streaming by internet to outside world need ports and dns address
because we are certain that your dns is correct and updated then the problem in ports,we should do some tests to know why they are not working
first to be sure that they are forwarded to out computer ip(computer ip is given by the router and for some reasons the router change the ip given to local computer,so you need to check that,in program settings and guides section you can see the true computer ip)
