I received my box last week from a chin ease supplier. I first took care of the heat issue. I removed the card reader, made few holes on the card holder plastic cover and attached to it a 6cm fan. The box is ice cold now. Later I solved the freeze problem due to removing the card reader by shortening pin 5 and 6. Using latest VIX image(august) with no glitch for one week. However just few plug inn installed with TS panel and media and picons. no usb or hdd. Box was $101 shipped.20130817_190029.jpg20130817_185958.jpg20130817_185939.jpg

Also I had to modify the remote control transmitter that had to be bend down so a little plastic cutting was necessary, Now very responsive .20130817_193212.jpg

Just shorten pin 5 and 6 like in the picture and no freeze problem whatsoever. Solid rock performance. The problem with this box is heat if you manage to solve the issue it works better than the original VU solo.

How did you determine 5/6 pin was the problem?

when freezing what exactly happened ? i removed card reader didnt shorten , Openpli 3.0 runs perfect for weeks, vix 3.0 runs for 1 day before seeing the vix 3.0 logo in corner loading and noting else, so wanting to know how it froze on you ? is it card reader shorten issue , as openpli 3.0 runs perfect, its not heat issue as you can see by the fan installed stays just warm instead of very hot

              thanks

Heat is not an issue, even without a fan and with the card reader in place, they don't run any hotter than the Chinese DM800. I've had one running for over 2 weeks with my modded OpenPLi installed without issue. It's probably better for longevity to keep the card reader removed and use a fan though.

Cannot compare with the Chinese DM800,But this box has the biggest heat build up without the fan running i,v experienced, in all the boxes i,v had, the casing gets very hot indeed.

i have been running openpli 3.0 latest build with all picons - plugins - epg all set in internal flash, been working for few months no issues, would recommend getting a bigger fan installed, mine now seems to pull the heat out the sides, the heatsink is hot but not as hot with the stock fan, cant believe the first ones had no fan

Think you misread my post,i was responding to lincsat, with the fan i added it is running with no issues, without the fan the heat build up really rises, lincsat stated heat was not an issue,i begger to disagree, thats why i stated i could not compare it to the chinese dm800, I had 1 of the 1st batch with no fan,i added the fan,no problems with the fan running. so would you agree without a fan there is a heat issue?

100% without fan there is a heat issue, if you feel the heatsink its very very hot , even the ones that come with fan heatsink is also hot , really need to mod it and add a bigger fan , also the motherboard being upside down doesn't help with heat build up to the top and no vents ?

its a great box enigma 2 , taking latest images for the price, they need to revise it and make it run cooler

They run hot but it does not cause any issues, they really are no hotter than the DM800's - some of them don't have a fan either!

Like I said, I had a box running here without a fan and with the card reader in place for over 2 weeks, no freezing, no rebooting, no problems at all.

yup maybe run fine, but always better to try to run them cooler, by adding bigger better fan just for peace of mind, dont like idea of them running that hot
