I suppose it might be problem with GAL which has "previuos" dump or atmega is damage.
you have a problem with "fuse and configuration bits" - you have missed one (for sure)

double check - afterwords your tool will work properly.

Hello there, i was hoping someone could guide me.

Seems like I killed my Cable, I plugged into VCDS 10.6.4 while on the internet, It's a VAG106 Dual K&CAN <-> USB
    FT232R- based.

Trying with VCDS 10.6 will end up with a Timeout Error.

Use seach in DK, thread about restoring firmware in old versions like 704.

Probbably PID,VID is not anymore ok, and you don't see you cable in device manager as known device.

Edit driver .inf to access FTDI. and after probbably u need to reprogam atmega as well.

if interface has protection chip , desolder it.

if it does not work reprogram Atmega , at end of programming you should get a message saying if Atmega was successfully programmed or not.
Your way works Thanks for hint.

I have a dead chinese 10.6 with security chip. Is it enough to desolder the chip or any additional modification needed to upgrade to 11.2?

i am running vcds 11.2 on an interface flashed with 1.84 dump available on the net. if i test interface under windows 7 , i get serial hex7386-014155-50275a-044127-bjhahh-5153 , fully registered.

if i test the interface under windows xp sp3 running on virtual machine Vmware , i get the same serial but unregistered / unauth .

i mention that the virtual machine has no internet access, so it can get the banned serial .

what do you think is the problem?

tested also with windows 7 xp mode , working , so vmware is the only problem...

    ---

Solved !!! after i push test the second time, it shows Fully Registered in vmware too. don't know why i have to test twice, but it works.

Thank you very much, I was guessing that'd be the solution, but needed a concrete answer. Thanks!

I don't know if is ok, the fully registered must appear after only one test, not after two or more.
Test the clone on a native xp computer and see. If the problem is still present, your clone is damaged.
If not, your virtual machine is the problem.
