Its not been mentioned apart from myself and i watched a doc last night on 4 about pensioners
Most pensioners have much more income than many jobless so why are they exempt?
because they vote, is the reason upset the oldies and your power is gone
but the show made some valid points millionaires getting winter fuel allowance and state pension, people who do not need the cash still get it
Now i know that they have a right to that money after all they worked their lives for it but surely some common sense and some means testing could help plug a few financial holesComment

Although it appears wrong that those with loads of money still get benefits I also believe if you've paid your dues you deserve everything you get. Most of those millionaires pay more tax in a year than some will pay in a lifetime. Sure they're still minted but in the majority of cases they've worked for it.
Take away the benefits from those that work hard and one day you'll have a country full of those that think they deserve everything for doing nothing. It's already at the stage where it pays more to have three kids and be unemployed. With benefits you will be on a lot more than the national average wage so why work ?Comment

Doing a lot of work on this lately, and the average is around ?15 p/w... Most are around ?11, the are a few of around ?22, and one I have been in touch with is ?28 p/w
What I am trying to get at though, is that people on benefits think that rent is secondary and things like, cars, internet, teles, and mobile phones are first in line.
In my house, and most folks who work hard for a living, when money is tight, all of the other things go, and the roof over the head is the most important thing. I have had years of not having sat or cable when I was younger, I can even remember not being able to afford the heating and sitting their wit my coat on to keep warm..Comment

You are getting well ripped off with your broadband virmin are doing it at Superfast up to 60Mb broadband plus calls ?5 a month for 6 months then ?19.50 a month and that one of the more expensive deals.Plus net are even cheaper at ?2.99 a MONTH with ?13 line rental so were you get ?11 p/wDoing a lot of work on this lately, and the average is around ?15 p/w... I see your point but think its about as correct as your broad band prices.
If you go to sign on they ask you for your email address in fact you can sign on online if you are a single parent plus when you sign on you are asked to create a universal job match account online. Most jobs these days are advertised on the internet. So in my eyes the internet and a phone are essential to getting back to work can you imagine an enployer looking at a CV with out a phone number on it.
I understand sacrifices need to be made at desperate times i too have sat there with no heating and not answering the door .But i have learned from them times and can empathise with people in this situation.I dont think in this day and age that is acceptable in this country.I dont claim any benefits in fact i pay supper tax and own my home.So i am not effected by this bedroom tax but i can see the harm it is doing.
A young girl (18) who i know is having to leave her family home next week over this.Last year she had a mum and a dad and a home she grew up in.Then by a cruel set of event she lost both parents in a bad car crash she was left unable to work (for the time being) and on benefits now she has lost her perants and now her home.
Please please please tell me how this can be right.Last edited by firestorm; 21 March, 2013, 04:39.If you tremble with indignation at every injustice then you are a comrade of mineComment

This is off topic & I won't be dragged back into this arguement...
One of the main reasons they do this, is so they can track you online more easily. It has nothing to do with helping you...And everything to do with Big Brother. If you go to sign on they ask you for your email address in fact you can sign on online if you are a single parent plus when you sign on you are asked to create a universal job match account online
If I ever have to sign on again they won't be getting my email address because I don't have the internet.
Or I'll create an address just for them to use.Canker

If had good pensions and loads of money and was comfortable without it then i dont think i would miss it no
but im not sure about abolition tbh, it seems decent in theory but im sure many pensioners would see it different
They paid in they are entitled, i get that and fully understand it
But at the same time there are many rich pensioners who do not need it. Winter fuel bus passes are all given regardless of cash in bank
Maybe a little common sense especially around certain benefits could be better spent elsewhereComment

Those prices were average rent subsidies that tenants will have to pay.Comment

well if we never joined the EU, then we would have kept all the BRITISH money for BRITISH people. We would not be forced to allow immigrants without jobs into the UK.
Just try to emigrate to Canada,Australia,New Zealand or USA.
