Looks like this one may end up as Cameron's community charge type failure. Tories always claim to be doing "what the people want" and never learn that "the people" are not their mates at the golf course..... I hope people have long memories though, 2 years to election and before the election there will be tax cuts, probably paid for by the sale of Lloyds shares when they split the bank up next year, the bank that "we" have already paid very heavily for already. Now they want us to pay for it, and probably RBS, again. Who says you can't have your cake and eat it? With the Tories you sell the cake twice to the same mugs.

Yep, sounds like a good idea although i am 99% sure most councils would sledgehammer it open and charge ya for the work as it doesnt matter what you do, on a tenenency agreement if it says 2 bedrooms or 3 bedrooms etc then that exactly what it is bricked up or not, LOL. (plus the fact the tenant would more than likely receive a serious written warning too).

The muppet that thought the idea up of paying the rent direct to the tenant to hand over must have been having a laugh. Unless of course it was their way of getting back at the Labour Lords on the boards of some of the larger housing associations. Not that I'm a sceptic you understand ;-)

Thousands of families on Merseyside have "spiralled into debt" in the 100 days since the government introduced housing benefit cuts, a study claims.
It follows a benefit change in April - dubbed the "bedroom tax" - which cut help given to tenants with spare rooms.
The National Housing Federation said people were being forced into rent arrears because there were not enough smaller properties to move to.
A government spokesman said: "Reform of housing benefit is essential."


A spokesman for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) said: "We are giving local authorities ?150m DHP funding this year to support vulnerable people, including ?25m to help people who live in accommodation that has been adapted for their disabilities.
"We always monitor the impact of our policies carefully but there is no conclusive evidence that people affected by our housing benefit reforms are not getting the help they need.
"This reform will save hard working taxpayers almost ?1bn over the next two years and will help restore fairness to our housing benefit system."

how far 150 million will go though I dont think will be much as they are already mega millions in debt because of what they have caused thierselves !
