so what's the verdict on these... briefly looking at the last ferw pages... people seem to be having issues that require soldering etc for these cloud ibox's...

would i be right in assuming it's best to avoid this clone for now?

Well this box is my first E2 machine after having had a F3, found it easy to setup a lot more powerful and very very reliable, I think it was mainly the first batch that seamed to have problems as personaly I find it too be a great box and the only trouble I get is from trying to do network streaming of films from pc to the box which I gave up on and use my appletv instead.

Picture is good box is on for about 8-12 hours a day doesn't seam to give any problems. would give it a 8 out 10 would be more if I could watch films via the pc but think tis box don't have the grunt for it

for what you save and the countless issue,s why not get a tried and tested vu+solo v3.2, stick B.H. 1.7.2 on it and install your cams/plug-ins. job done for ?80,regards mdt

Yep, I would agree. I have a solo 2 as my main receiver. Just looking to tinker with a new box for a while as I have a bit of time on my hands at the moment. I did originally have the cloud ibox 1 but that had overheating issues... I want a linux receiver so was just considering it... i would want to try different images and plugins etc... mainly software side... last thing i would want is a box that needs opening and replacing parts.

Would you say solo v3.2 is one of the most reliable and stable clones on the market at the moment?

logitech harmony remotes are a good choice... and if using on one of the cheaper clone receivers, where the IR sensor has a very narrow range... then a good idea to couple it with a USB IR extender (cost about ?3 on auction site) - the benefit of using one of those extenders is useful even if you have direct site, because the eye on the extender sensor behaves a lot like an original VU+ sensor where you can basically point remote away from the sensor/receiver and it will still pick up your remote input.

from all the clones this remote is the worst, button layout aint even same as xp1000 so not great to use and the clicks pressing the middle, and range crap, vu clone remotes never had this issue

I have an X Solo Mini on test runs all VU Solo images without issue it's cheaper to buy than the iCloud2 and on looking inside and the feel outside I would say it's a better build.

It works as well as the iCloud so I think it's going to be a better buy. Once I have a backup image I like I'll be ordering more :-)
