hi new here but have read through your help on previous posts and tryed them on my box as i had all my channels mixed up and no sky sports 1,2,3 i have done the factory reset and rescanned and all is fine now

I have had my Starview box for about a year now, i thought it was a 5 but now i'm not sure as someone said the 5 has only been out 6-8 months.

The box says "TheBox Super USB" on the front. The reason i need to know is because some of my channels have stopped working. I've tried the manuel delete and reboot, factory default and setting the default key in the secret menu.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

super usb is version 4, it should have no rs232 (com port, 9 pin) on the back
version 5 has usb and rs232 on the rear

some useful info..
contrary to what people say/believe there IS also a clone/bodge up of starview 5 (of sorts)
ive seen two, so, rare.. but they exist...

what that is is a starview 4 board (u can tell its a starview 4 board without looking at the circuit layout in that it wont have an rs232 port on the rear) but the front fascia will read TheBox USB II. yes, i know.. strange.
the bootloader/software is replaced with the bootloader/software of the version 5 unit, and hence it will look exactly like the sv5 on your tv when you boot up the unit.
as the starview 4 was also cloned, it gets very complicated and often faults are very difficult to rectify on these as u can imagine. steer well clear from these.

should be just vermin messing about but its the start of the end.
have you done a rescan as well? and make sure keycode is on..

the firmware ain't out for that box yet..they saying monday coming.

Hi - newbie here. Just got my sv5 too. My old sv2 was limping along with the help of BigMAQ toolbar. Should I wait until next week for new firmware. Never done a firmware upgrade before.

hi folks i had a prob with starview box super usb2 in that it wouldnt recognise file on the usb stick.
Tried putting the file on a different stick and it worked first time so up and running.
give it a try

Thanks for the responses guys, it turns out the box is SV4 and i've tried the v1.12 which has got it up and running for now. It was a good run.

Anyone know if their is an alternative after Nagra 3?

no fix for n3 yet in 'chipped box' form unfortunately, enjoy ur sv4 while it lasts

my starview box has gone off

Hi all i am new to all this i bought my starview 5 in sept 09 and this is the first time i have had a problem with it i have tried reloading the original settings ithat i used but all the pay channels are still locked can anyone help

have you done a factory reset 0000 to delete ,
auto scan your provider from main feed wall to box,
when channels are loaded exit out,
press menu1570 and put keycode to enable and exit out.

Pensioner newbie. Had old Starview for 4 years, easy to update without ' usb firmware ', just purchased Starview 5 usb 2 and do not know what firmware is or how or where to find it. I haven't lost all my marbles yet but I am not P.C. technically minded. Hope you can help.

Its straight forward enough m8 checkout the downloads section get the tut for sv5 posted by myself also get firmware for sv 5 v.2.03 that is the most stable dont use 2.05 if you find it its very buggy read the tut and follow it DO NOT INSERT or REMOVE USB Devise while the box is on REMEMBER that.If you need more help we are here to help you should be ok if you do as i have posted here take your time i hope your area is not Nagra 3 if it is the box or any other box is no use to you m8.

I am having the same problem 2, i am in south wales area, finding it difficult to update my firmware, i have certain channels that have sound but no picture any advice for my guy???
