Diouf and the Celtic physio happened near the middle of the pitch. The ref was pre-occupied and don't know what the 4th official was doing, but he got involved I think when Diouf came over to the touchline.
I've found this video of the incident. It's hardly an assault!, just Diouf winding up and getting involved in something that he shouldn't have been.
I've seen footballers feign being shot for lighter touches. I was under the impression he had shoulder charged him. All the physio had to do was run a foot to the left rather than run in a direct line towards the numptie.
So the Physio is at fault and should have swerved out of Dioufs way are you for real ? Regardless of how little contact there may have been, Diouf is 100% out of order and should be punished for his actions he could have caused a riot ! The atmosphere prior to this was highly charged, Rangers just had a player sent off and Diouf was fairly cynical in attempting to hit the Physio.

I never said the Physio was to blame. Take a closer look at the video and concentrate on the numpties feet. You can see he clearly moves away from the physio where as the Physio continues in a straight line. If the numptie hadn't moved there would have been more contact and more shit kicked up. He's renowned for being a dick so why give him the opportunity. A bit like sticking your hand in a wasps nest then complain they stung you.
You clearly are saying it was the Physio's fault as your suggesting he should have moved away from Diouf, your missing two vital points
(1) Diouf is clearly seen moving his arm towards the Physio
(2) What was Diouf running towards the Physio for, or more importantly why did he continue running to the Celtic dug out ?
He is an odious human being and was intent in causing as much shite as he could, in that he succeeded.
Neil Lennon was totally wrong to react as he did and for that he should be punished, which no doubt he will, but is he solely at fault as he seems to be getting all the blame.
McCoist lost the plot prior to the incident at the end of the game he too should be punished, both of them should receive the same punishment as they were guilty of the same misdemeanour's.
Boughgera should get a long suspension for his man handling of the ref, Bartley should be suspended for his involvement in the tunnel and Diouf should not only be suspended he should also be charged by the polis for a breach of the peace, when at the end of the game he refused to listen to the instruction of a police officer.
If truth be told after all that I've written above, it's all much ado about nothing, and with the exception of Diouf, all the other incidents are being blown out of proportion, of course they were wrong but they were silly handbag incidents which wouldn't have caused much fuss if all in sundry hadn't been looking their 15 mins. From Salmond to the Police chief and the media, they are all using this to heighten their own profile or cause.

Snowy, it's all subjective, Rangers fans will see it as they do, Celtic fans the opposite, and to be fair unless your uninterested in football, most football fans with an interest in the spl will be one side or the other
But here is the major incident of the aftermath of the game, Neil Lennon is now under 24 hr guard due to threats on his life Alex Salmond , the Police Chief, the press nor Rangers football club have made comment on that, and that for me is the saddest indictment of all of the above. A young manager and his family are now in fear for their lives over a football game , and that is a major shame!

I agree 100% Diouf stuck his elbow out and he should be hammered for doing it. The man's clearly a dick but why give him the opportunity to prove it. A change in rules are required like in rugby. A player screws up the ref pulls the Captain and warns him about the players conduct. No discussion with the player. Any lip and they're sin binned. No get gobbed off at by a 12 stone streek of piss that hurts himself tripping over daisies.
At the end of the day it's a business. If the players screw up and the games have to be played behind closed doors the management will soon sort out the trouble makers. A ban for the rest of the season whilst Rangers still pay his wages will soon wake him up.

I make you right with that one Skegs. It's a sad indictment on society I suppose, that this is/has happened and the other organisations involved are so concerned with feathering their nest that they haven't spoke out about it, is shameful.

Think you're onto something with that one Snowy. I know it's something that Fifa have looked at (refs & captains communicating more) and think the sin bin could be an idea, but don't think Fifa are radical enough to change any of the precious rules of the game.
It's great how it works in Rugby and other sports..
Well it's all the press re Diouf saying that Lennon did not make any racists comments. So it looks like it was pure millious fabrication! Pretty low...
Here's an interesting article from Scotzone with some comments from the Rangers fan site 'follow, follow'.

thats a fantastic idea snowy, but like mattybhoys says the bigwigs would never allow it.
that big diffrence between rubgy and football is that rugby players try and play within the rules of the game whearas football players seem to do their best to get away with breaking them..

Below is a call to Radio Clyde last night. It sums up what I personally think is very wrong with Scottish society. And I think (like a few Rangers fans gloated on the closed thread) the reason why Lennon wont be in Scotland next season. It will be shameful if he had to take that step and it will be shameful that the shameful have won.
