Wii 4.2E softmod tutorial. Easy to follow guide.

I forget to tell you that my wii is black one.will be better if I will buy a USB hdd?That means that I will download everthing on my usb hdd not sd card?

From the reading I have been doing the black wiis will not play dvd backups at all

All to do with the dvd chipset on these new wiis

The only option is to load your backup games onto a usbhdd and run from there

Bit of a bummer but games will load faster and easier than having discs everywhere I suppose

Wii consoles purchased towards the later half of 2009, including all black Wii consoles have a newer DVD drive (D3-2) inside them. These Wii consoles will not play games from blank DVD discs, they will however work with a USB loader. To find out if your Wii is likely to have a D3-2 drive go to this site.

When i get to this step i seem to have a error

4. Load Trucha Bug restorer again and this time press left on the Wii remote until you select IOS15 and Press A. Wait a few seconds and press 1. Choose IOS36 menu. Copy the settings so they are exactly as listed below:

You need to use an IOD with trucha bug/
That's what the IOS15 downgrade is good for...

ive been through the procedure twice and dont think im doing anything wrong

It's on IOS36, use the remote + pressing left so it goes back to IOS15,then press A on remote when you see IOS15, that what your doing m8 ?

hi I completed the softmod wiuthout any problems but when I insert my burned wii game it says it cant read disc. my wii is from sweden whatever region that is and the dl'ed game is us...does this mod make the wii region free? or is this error something else?

Go into the config section of the loader m8, put it to NTSC.

oh... nice it works now. but I tried to put a clean iso on a usb drive but could not get it to work...it said it culdnt find any wbfs file or something like dat adn then it formted the stick...but now I cant access the stick in windows without formating it...

Try copying the game using the wii's drive to your memory stick m8.
Dont use a hard drive myself but there's plenty of peeps on here will let you know what to do.

Use your wbfs manager to access your pen drive tobb,windows wont see your drive once in wbfs so youll have to use wbfs manager to load on/off your iso's

WAD manager problem

Hi, I have problem with step7.
I cant copy these wad files:
cIOS222[38]-v4.wad
cIOS223[38+37]-v4.wad
IOS249-v14.wad
cIOS250-v14.wad
I have tested redownload all package, format SD card (1GB)...
(I have version 4.2E)
Any idea?

Cant remember exactly, but when installing the WAD files you press the + on the Wii remote, give that a go, might be getting confused with an older wad manager though.
