I've got it in my USB HDD and it works without issue.

When I insert any of my 3 original DVDs I get the message "Wii system update" instaed of the games icons. Have I deleted to much of the original system files?

Can I upgrade safely in some way or should I just ignore it?

All games starts via uLoader either from DVD if I want (as I would!) or from USB HDD.

Same problem as I have, but you can start the game from the uLoader menu. Start uLoader and at the top right corner is a DVD icon, press that one and then "Load game"

                  Perfect result dell_xps.

Many thanks for taking the time to compile and post the guide.

Very easy to follow. It's an ideal introduction to using available firmware mods to unlock the potential of the Wii.

I'll push my luck and hope you are willing to update and provide further tips, advice and compilations of appropriate files! :-D

                  Very helpful; an excellent post.

Some additional IOS files probably got deleted. As no original discs contain 4.2 on them yet it will just put back whatever it think's is missing, so you should be ok.

ULoader you have installed will be the latest, and you will be able to run a hard drive from it.

I can confirm that the IOS 222 & 223 accompanied by ULoader, all included in the archive referred to in the initial post, enable use of a USB HDD - the only issue I experienced appeared to relate to the Wii USB port I plugged the external drive into. Provided I plugged the drive into Port 0, the lower USB socket when your drive is placed horizontally, it worked perfectly. When plugging into Port 1, ULoader didn't find the drive and changing to the DVD loader (by pressing "2") and inserting a burned DVD was the only alternative.

You must use "WBFS Manager" (V3.0 or higher) to format and transfer your Wii backup ISO files to your HDD.

                                Google for sources.
