bit of advice on motorised dish

ok so im looking at getting a motorised dish in jan, and was wondering how it works, now i have a vu+ box with a sky bouquet, if i was to scan another satelite do i lose that bouquet or does it stay there for when i switch back to the satelite? also are they easy to install, i cant find an installer in my area

hello the uk bouquet would stay in place and the channels would just go into your channel list you can get full european bouquets though i have one on mine at minute can't remember who's it is but works great.
installation can be a pain if you don't have a clue about how they work but give it a go if your confident theres nothing you can damage

if you have a fixed dish i would leave that there and you can have one tuner fixed and the other on the motor,if the motor goes off centre you still have the other.

dish height has no relevance apart from making sure you have no obstructions in the way of the signals from the arc the motor will be "looking at"
generally speaking the fixed dish is pointed at 28e and you may find many obstructions either side of that position, or none at all
you can check the website dishpointer and place a dish on your property in various places and check for obstructions etc

the one thing nobody here can do for you is decide on what obstructions will cause you problems from any preferred fixing point or height, that would normally be done in a site survey by an installer, it may well be that no suitable fixing point is available on your property in which case it is pointless people telling you to do it yourself simply because they will have assumed that you have already checked the suitability of any mounting point or points, yet only a physical check at your property will reveal this !

the only thing we can be sure of is that you will get the same as you get now, as clearly your present dish has reception of 28.2e

I would be aware of planning permission in your area, certainly where I am you are only allowed one dish on your property, also dish size. Planning permission is needed for over 1m i think, someone on here will know more on that than me. but if you plan getting weak sats you will need to go bigger than a standard sky sized dish. there are plenty of sites which recommend sizes for best reception depending on where you are in the UK.

NO!! unless your in a listed building or the norfolk broads you are allowed 2 sat dishes on your property. 1 of 100cm and 1 of 60cm
