You must have the wires wrong at the motor then, have you lined up to 1 west ? and got a signal ?

It should be set to 0 degree from new, I would spend the night having a good look at youtube vids on how to do this, its pointless moving the dish if its already at 0 until you have 1w locked.

its not you been thick m8 its not just a case of chucking a dish on a wall, everything has to be inline pole 100% level the dish has to be 100% correct with the motor the motor needs to be at an exact degree and your dish has to be at an exact degree for your location,

then you need to get a lock on 0.8 west

then worry about the motor all them points made need to be done before you even think about moving the dish

you need to make sure that all 4 f connections are done correctly to get power to the motor and to the lnb

so thats the centre core protruding slightly in front of the f conn, and the outer sheath pulled back over the insulation and the f conn is then screwed on

the power then goes to the motor with positive down the centre core and earth through the outer copper sheath via the f connector

the reason the centre core protrudes slightly is to push into the receptor on the motor connector on the vu, and the motor in on the motor, with the second cable coming out from the motor and into the lnb

I agree with ramjet 100% but I would not use the motor wire until you have locked 0.8 west, wire straight from lnb to box when all is well and you have a lock on 0.8w then put the loop in.

that will only work if his zero pointer matches his longitude being 0.8w

if he was 3 west then thor is 2 east of zero meaning he needs to have his usals move the motor to the correct position, then its lnb to box and find thor, then reconnect the motor, if he is doing it that way, so it all depends on his longitude

That is correct but for most of us its 0.8w as you know he needs to go right back to the beginning and get the basics in place before he moves anything, and if it turns out it needs to be set different he will understand it more when he has locked 0.8.
