For working with lathest sowtware image is need to use the lastest upgrade FERRARI security chip to v3.2 READ THIS

???? It can't work! At least becouse ibox has only 3 pins in serial port conector. And it has different security chip inside, not ferrari.

UPGRADE v3 to v3.2 is ONLY! for receiver with v3 security chip inside..
For receiver v1 or v2 security chip inside is neeed hardware(not software) upgrade (new upgrade with chip v3.2)

Upgrade how to ( source:Ferrari forum)
Use the RS232 cable and dongle type device (or modified null modem cable with pin explain in page 20 in this thread)that came with my box to update the firmware to the latest v3.2.

To do this make sure your computer has a real physical COM port, USB adapters won;t work reliably and that the OS is Windows XP.

Make sure the Vu Duo is switched off, plug the RS3232 dongle into the Vu Duo, plug one end of the cable into the dongle, the other end into the COM port on the PC/Laptop.

Download the latest v3.2 firmware and unpack to a suitable location and then run the program renewaes.exe, this should automatically detect the COM port, if it doesn;t then you have a problem so check all connections.

If the program detected a COM port then you can continue so click on Load file and select the file vu_2ver_22m_130110_sec_isp.bin.

After the file has loaded switch on the Vu Solo/Uno/Duo, the program should start flashing the firmware to the v3 security chip, a progress bar will be displayed and a message will pop up when the Update has completed.

The box is now ready, so go and get whatever image you want to use then use the normal USB method to flash the box and then enjoy.

My alien 8900 box has just gone kaput and ive been offered one of these as a replacement? Apparently its a newer model that runs cooler. Probably just the same but with a crappy fan installed.

I dont mind doing a bit of modding myself if it needs a new or larger fan etc.

BUT does the current firmware run stable on these boxes now? Ive read most of this thread!

i am running both the openbox s6000hd and a cloud ibox both have the v3 chip in them and i am running ferrari blackhole 2.0.6 which they run perfectly the s6000hd has not got a fan in it and runs a wee bit hot the ibox has a fan and it is virtually noisless i am running a lot of plugins also for the price they are a cracking wee box
