Just red dot.
I had that exciting time the other day when it looked like it had succeeded but thats the only time.
Yes - I have previously reflashed via the serial port so know about the putty/hyperterm option. TBH I never got anything via hyperterm - maybe the com settings were wrong (although I di follow the advise given), but all I ever saw was the odd random character.
To be fair I haven't tried the hyperterm option thus far with this new PSU. Maybe its something else to try, but TBH all this f*nnying around is trying my patience.
I may try another serial port reflash and then hyperterm - although could do with advise on settings (baud rate etc)Comment

Have you tried uploading the boot loader using the serial port thingy that comes with the box? Serial port settings should be 9600, 8, n, 1, no flow control when doing this.
I've just read a whole raft of threads over on the Ferrari forums and it seems that there's a multitude of possible solution but it all hinges on if the box actually tries to boot which you should be able to determine using Putty/HyperTerm.Comment

Excuse my ignorance here, but am I missing something extra.Have you tried uploading the boot loader using the serial port thingy that comes with the box? Serial port settings should be 9600, 8, n, 1, no flow control when doing this.

Via the serial port thus far I have reloaded the secret file (probably not required) and ran the reflash utility to load the bin file. Is there something else I need to do with the 9600 baud rate set for the bootloader

Tried reflashing via serial today and its not taking the flash .bin file.
Loaded putty and with 9600,8,n,1 I get the following on power up
8?>???<?8?>???<?8??
With 115200,8,n,1 I get:
?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????
With 19200,8,n,1 I actually get some english - but not much:

I may be wrong here but if your trying to flash the Duo via serial port with an image then the image file has to be in a .nfi file format this applies to originals as well as clones

Its not an image I'm flashing - going back to first principals,
i.e here:
How to fix bricked Duo
Yesterday I could reload the secret file (not that I necessarily needed it) and could reflash the unit (bootloader maybe??) via the UpdateAllFlash.exe and duoboot.bin.
Today it won't touch either.Last edited by meggiedude; 13 June, 2012, 19:31.Comment

This is what I've found on another forum, not my work and it's for the solo but it's seems to sugest flashing a bootloader after which you can hopefully flash an image via USB. Never tried it myself so have no real idea:
1, use RS232 adoptor , (small baord we send with receiver togeter) connect with VU solo first by RS232 port , and rs232 cable with small board and computer connect)
2, run UpdateAllFlash.exe this file,
3, select RS232 port , and open file , choose soloboot.bin this file,
4, power on vu solo receiver
5, click update botton, and check if program can finish or not
6, when finish programmer and , then can put usb flash disk , put VU file make update ( because this step just put bootload inside box, after need make usb update all software to box then finish)Comment
