Duo clone broke this afternoon!!!!! Help

just keeped on doing it , non stop . till it flashed image


i only use the image on a usb , never flashed the chip ect



what os is your pc.laptop
how are you unzipping the image
what do you have on the usb stick?

Sh*t - Ive just powered it up and pushed the usb in AFTER the power switch was turned on and its now saying "Starting........" USB has power.

Am I getting somewhere????

yes , your almost there mate , just keep trying to flash it ,
if your image is on on the fat32 usb then , just keep turning off and on , in till you see reading usb
yous close now

unzip image on desktop befor putting it on the usb , i found thats best

Still struggling. Looks like there are still problems here.

Went all the way to "please reboot system" message. so did so

Tried to start and hung.

All subsequent boots - red dot again.

Arrgggh - so close.

yep had that , just keep doining it , try re formatting usb / then add unziped folder to usb , also trt the three usbs you have.

OK, but Tell me, since you've done this successfully - how reliable has the unit been?? I can't believe you have to do this - there's got to be a hardware issue. This can't be right...

well before you had nothing rite ? so now somethings working

box crashes with most plugins tbh , but basic funtions are fine as long as i dont add plugins or auto timers

im on vix 2.4 130 , had updateded it to 149 and had shit loads of probloms , so im not updating any more

True, true. Do you have 7 day EPG? That's pretty essential TBH. Don't really care about most of the rest.
Ideally i'd want to drive my motorized dish - but no idea if thats even possible any more.

Will have to give it a break today - wife getting stroppy.

V2 clone - and very new.

I'm not an electrical engineer, but this is looking like something here isn't getting enough juice. i.e something maybe on the motherboard (cap maybe) is lacking in effectiveness, or there's a dry joint somewhere.
Its had 50 or 60 reboots now and only once did it look at the USB drive to reload the image. Even after that it would not reboot.
I know others have changed one of the caps to rectify this type of fail mode, but I should not need to do this on a new piece of kit. The only reason its not gone back is that it has to be shipped back to the far east.

I am happy to keep giving this a go for a while - so will see what happens tomorrow.

You guys are doing a grand job helping out btw.

Just a thought m8 are you trying the front usb to flash as well as both on the rear ?

I've tried all three at various times. with three diff pen drives, plus rotated the 'figure-of-8' connector 180deg to swap the polarity of the voltage going into the unit. (a fix that's already been mentioned here and elsewhere for dodgy USB ports)

Do you have to create the \vuplus\duo folder structure on the USB?

Don't have a box myself but reading a few threads it seems to suggest creating the folder and then putting the file in the duo folder.

no just download the image and extract that then copy the vuplus folder with all it's contents directly to the USB stick and away you go.

well thats kind of the reason we say make a backup before updating so that if any thing does go wrong you can revert back to a working image. incidentally 2.4-149 has been set as a unstable image but 2.4-151 is working fine for me.

this box should have come loaded with bh 1.72 have you tried putting this back on

as looking back all your troubles started when you tried to change image

and as rd has just said maybe there is issue with the image your trying to load being unstable
