    This is the wrong thread!

    It can be done via 'paid for' software - No free codes!

      Does it apply to the new Huawei modems with a new algorithm (Imei 86*, Idea)? I wanna unlock Huawei E3131 ... Is this the way to find a new algorithm to unlock Huawei modems? Flash code is the same but unlock code is different...

          Yes and some Idea modems have 'doctored firmware'' and may need flashing first.

            No Luck so far

            I downloaded the software, installed it and ran it on my Windows 7 laptop, but when I connect my Hotshot via USB, I am not seeing any ports in the device manager.
            Am I missing something obvious?

              I don't know what the 'Hotshot' is, I assume Huawei?

              Any way, failure is almost guaranteed with Windows 7 or Vista. Try Windows XP 32 bit...

                Got file, can't find code.

                I realised that I had to install the hotshot software, obvious perhaps, but without unknown devices, I didn't think it was needed.
                I can't find the code in the attached file, but maybe you can help.
                Thanks,
                D.

                  Hotshot = Huawei E5832

                  Just to clarify, the O2 hotshot is actually a Huawei E5832.

                        Try here by IMEI: Huawei Modem Codes

                        Not free but it doesn't need you to use Servers & Connect Cables!

Always REMOVE the SIM card before doing the read or you may get an corrupt file! Instructions: Download this version of QMAT. Digital Kaos - Downloads - QMAT Select the Application port of the E583x. Check in Windows Device Manager if unsure. To test if you got the right port, send the "00" version command. You should see something like this: Then select: Read EFS and flag "Alternative Method". Click "Let's go". The resultant file contains both Binary and ASCII characters. You will need to search for this for your 8 digit unlock code. There will be two codes in the file one is for removing the SIM lock and the other removes the Mi-Fi lock. You can use Notepad to search the file, its crude but you should find the code in a few minutes. I have tried a program called ExtractText: Windows 95+ programs The results are hit and miss with this program, sometimes the code is on the last line sometimes it is at the top of the list! However, it might give you a good idea of what you're looking for! To cut down on unnecessary searching using Extract Text go to Options and then Text Options and set the parameters to: Minimum Character 7 and maximum characters 8 plus you should have only Numbers selected: One thing to keep in mind, the unlock code will appear only once so you can ignore repeated codes. This should narrow the search down somewhat! Example: Do remember that you have 10 attempts to enter the correct code so do take a little time to chose the code! A code entry to is included below.... If this seems complicated please ask someone else to do the task for you! Please post your results!
                            it is also working for my e188 please help?
