Just buy the original then you wont have any problems with the cheap Hardware that Clone CE imports Have!
    Thanks for that "constructive" advice.

Question for any sparkies/experts out there regarding my issue and how to get it fixed.
Assuming the store I got it from does not want to entertain me with getting this issue addressed and I have to try go back to get a refund, I may still end up with this set on my hands. I need to know what it might take to get it working again.
I don't want to have to spend ~60quid on a new PSU unit if that is not the issue.

I have visually checked all the capacitors on both the motherboard and PSU circuit boards and can't see any obvious evidence of them bulging.

There is clearly some juice getting to the front panel as there is a red light there but that's it.
But there is no power to the USBs and no obvious access via VuCC.

If someone has had this exact failure mode can you pls advise on exactly what it take to fix it. I am not afraid of whipping out the PSU or even getting a soldering iron out and changing the odd component, but need some guidance on ways to go here, rather than me wasting cash on something I don't need.

To those of you who want to use this question as a way of pointing out I should have bought an original, yes, I hear what you say, but that does not help me.

      Cheers in advance.

My first advice is to head over to the Ferrari forums and have a read over there about getting a log file from the RS232 port, If you do have some power it may be enough to generate a log.

Post the log on the forum and have them take a look at it, To see if any possible fix via the RS232 Port, They have 2 video files showing you how to resurrect Solo/Duo with only a Red Light.

What type of PSU is it?

The output voltage and current are the important bits as I'm sure you could find 1 much cheaper than 60 notes on the bay of e, can't say how good they'd be though.

EDIT: Ignore my drivellings, have just seen that it's integrated into the box.

            OK, will do mate.
Just to say I've left it switched on and something is happening in the box, as heat is being generated somewhere - the case is warm to the touch.
The fan is not rotating however.

BTW Digicon, when you say Ferrari forum, which do you mean? Linuxsat-support??
Google comes up with many entries connected with Vu+ and Ferrari.

                  OK, I'm there, thanks.

Not sure its helping though. Reflashing connections via serial port only work within a sec of powering up the box, so not sure everything is getting there.
They look to complete.............but not sure
Still looking h/w related to me.
Still can't get USBs or fan to start - which suggests to me that despite the red light on the front they are not getting power.
I would expect they would work whether the firmware was working or not??

Ha, Reflashing has taken on a whole new meaning to me.

Trying to manually re=flash via the files on the Ferrari site. Obviously turned off/on once too often. Massive spark from the left side of the box. I thought I'd see the 400V Cap in bits, but no.
No really obvious signs of damage, but for a cracked off bit of plastic that was attached to one of the heatsink mounts.

If it wasn't FUBAR before, this Power supply sure is now.

Is this likely to have fried anything else on the main board. I am going to order PSU, but want to know if this is likely to have damaged anything else.

My psu went on an original, main board was fine m8.
Not sure if its just a psu problem you have, it might be totally bricked ?
?51 for a new psu, 50/50 chance, good luck !

When it went for you - it was big spark on startup?
